The Nail Truck, an Orange County, Calif.-based mobile salon, uses smaller, lightweight beverage buckets purchased from online restaurant supply sites. The buckets are used with disposable liners and they’re insulated and double-walled to properly maintain temperature.

A simple country-style bucket with handles complements the shabby chic decor at The Pampered Pinkie in Chandler, Ariz. Salon owner Megan Wilcock offers pedicure clients a seat in her cozy floral armchairs and uses homemade foot scrubs in her treatments.

The Brookhaven location of Atlanta’s Natural Body Spa & Shop chain features eco-friendly alabaster foot basins that use half the amount of water as standard industry basins. The salon was awarded Platinum certification under the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) program.

Hand-worked copper bowls set into a slab of reclaimed granite serve as pedicure bowls at Chicago’s Salon Echo. Environmentally conscious salon owners Maria and Gary Sigman built the salon with 85% recyclable or sustainable materials.
